The Power of “One”

Eron Rubio, a previous Arizona Camp Sunrise Camper, and his daughter Lorraine.

THE POWER OF ONE – Cynthia & Eron Rubio’s daughter Lorraine celebrated her first birthday in December. Instead of asking for gifts, the family decided that they would ask for donations to Southwest Kids Cancer Foundation, an organization that Eron personally benefitted from as a child.

“My husband Eron was diagnosed with retinoblastoma as a child so I have always known how beneficial (Arizona) Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks was to him and to his entire family,” described Cynthia Rubio, “I could not think of a better group to raise money for!”

Guests at Lorraine’s birthday party generously donated over $300 to Southwest Kids Cancer Foundation over the week leading up to her birthday.

“We are grateful for what camp has done for the Rubio family and that our family and friends were able to celebrate Lorraine’s birthday by supporting this program.”

Thank you to the Rubio family for giving back to SWKCF, and happy 1st birthday to Lorraine!

AZ Parrot Head Club Donates $7000 to SWKCF

At their annual holiday party, The Arizona Parrot Head Club (AZPHC) presented a $7000 check to AZ Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks!

They truly live the message of “Party with a purpose!” There’s a lot of party and a lot of purpose.

AZPHC was founded in 1994 by Marlene Buffa. They are a not-for-profit social organization for people interested in Jimmy Buffett and Trop Rock’s music and tropical spirit. The purpose? Assist in community outreach programs and to provide members with a means of social interaction.

The $7000 donated will go towards funding camp programs for kids with cancer and their siblings. Thanks to AZPHC and other partners, we can ensure that every kid gets a camp experience with zero financial burden on families.
